Company Background

When running a software development agency to support companies across Europe, we constantly received the same request from clients: to build embedded billing functionality into their applications. They wanted to own the billing relationship with their customers--to manage it as part of their branded experience. While there were some options in the market, they fell short in critical areas, namely:

    API

    There were many "invoicing as a service" and accounting packages on the market, but their billing functionality was not available via an API or required clumsy integrations that consumed development resources and degraded the customer experience.

    Tax compliance

    Our SaaS and E-Commerce clients needed to apply local tax rates, present invoices in tax-compliant formats, and support real-time transaction reporting to local tax authorities as and when required.

    White label solution

    The billing relationship needed to be part of our clients' branded workflow, not a "swivel chair" interaction with a 3rd party billing application.

After seeing these requests repeatedly, we set out to solve the problem and created Space Invoices: an API that makes it easy for Internet companies to offer tax-compliant invoicing services, globally.
